First attended SWKM in Swindon seven years ago. It started out as doing it for a bit of fitness, but become a full time obsession and getting fitter i feel more confident in general.

I find it the perfect self defence even seven years on and earning a Black Belt, i am learning new techniques all the time so this keeps you on your toes mentally as well as literally.

Its not just a self defence that has kept me coming back but it it the community as well. I first joined at the tail end of my forties and completely out of shape.

From day one i was accepted and as long as i gave my full effort. You would find support on those tough days and the occasional nudge when focus had slipped. There’s no cliques in the class you can often find novices pairing up with more senior members. Which really helps in learning techniques, that applies to both newbies and senior members.

So i would recommend it for fitness, confidence and learning valuable self defence skills. And if you need something that will end up with you pushing yourself further to progress within a friendly community then South West Krav Maga is somewhere you should definitely check out.
